The Store

Sea Horse Sports has been in operation since 2002. Prior to that Tuscarora Tack Store was in existence. In Spring, 2009 the shop moved into Oleander Oaks. Sea Horse Sports continues to offer a wide array of horse products, tack, footwear, apparel, and novelty items, and Consignment remains an important part of the store. Our motto is to consistently strive to bring you top quality service and selection.

The Family

The store is family run. Nine years ago, Lorna (top left)& Joleen  to the right, (2nd picture)"Joey" realized that the availability of the services of a local tack store were in jeopardy. Although Lorna has a long background in nursing and academia, and Joleen had recently graduated with a degree in Health Services Administration, the two embarked into the field of business and entrepreneurship. This task is combined with many other important attributes, including strong communication skills, abilities to relate to others, a knowledge of equestrianship, English riding style, and horse health as well as up to date care principles and techniques. Lorna remains in the health care field, overseeing the business of the store, and Joleen remains in the store as the manager. Joey is an avid rider and has extensive equestrian experience and product knowledge. Her latest equestrian project is Teddy, a Hanoverian Cross that the family has had since birth (see photo gallery!!) . She is planning on bringing him along in the hunter or jumper world, which ever he decides he likes best!
Ashley, Lorna's youngest daughter (above right), has been helping in the store since the business opened. She is in the stages of completing her last year of university in the field of Social Work. She plans to enroll in graduate studies next year. She assists in the store whenever she has time and after 9 years, has a competent and confident attitude when she works in the store. She does not have time to ride currently, but her goals are to ride with her sister and mother, when she has time. "She is very competent in the overall functioning of the store!"

The Staff
Joleen manages the operations of the store. Dana and Ashley, both university students, work in the store on a part time basis. They are long standing employees who possess a sound knowledge of the equestrian products and available store items.
